i would try to enable DMZ routing on the x-box. you can do this by going to the router configuration page 192.168.???.??? what ever your is. you should see an option for DMZ routing. find the IP address for your x-box and put it here and click enable. this will allow you x-box to go Straight to x-box live with out messing around with the routers firewall thus giving you higher speed to there network. i have done this for my PS3 and have notice a big difference in playing speed on the net. i hope this helps.How do I priotize my xbox over my desktop in my network?
Try entering putting 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your direction bar. If ti ask you for a username and password just put ';admin'; as username and ';password'; as your password. Maybe there you can see some options that might help you.

How do I automatically connect to a wireless network on Vista?
I've already set up the WiFi network profiles.
In Control Panel %26gt; Manage Wireless Networks, I always try to change the network connection properties from ';Manually Connect'; to ';Automatically Connect';, but every time I restart my laptop and check the network connection properties, it returns to ';Manually Connect.';
Automatically connecting to my WiFi at home and university would be very convenient.

Sure Simple fix, fist make sure your vista has he latest updates and is running SP1. Then try the following.
1. If you are running WPA for encryption and security from your router, change it to WEP as WPA has know issues with vista. Just go into your router control panel and in wirless security change to WEP and generate 4 10digit hexkeys and create a passphrase. Record one of these keys and the passphrase as you will need them later. after thats dont make sure to save and apply it before exiting the routher, then right click on your network icon on the lower right taskbar and disconnect. Then try and connect to the network again and it will ask for the passphrase and web key or password. Put them in, and you should be connected. WPA and WEP are both very good security options when compared to the other, WPA can just be a pain in the you know what to configure correctly.
2. It could also be that IPv6 is preventing you from connecting auto to the network. Go to your wireless adapter and disable IPv6.

The highest speed you can get with this modem is 230Kbps. If you're only getting 16Kbps, then something is wrong somewhere. Have you considered going to DSL?

In this day of digital data and fiber optic lines, most voice transmissions are chopped, diced folded, spindled and mutilated many times between the sender and the receiver. The human ear is a pretty crude instrument these days and does not know that the sounds that you hear coming over the phone has been chopped into little pieces and a bunch of stuff removed.It just all blends together and you never know.
But your modem knows, and it has a heck of a time figuring out what is real and what is noise, slowing down the whole process. So dial up just keeps getting worse, and the phone companies don't care because they want you to switch to DSL or broadband or wireless.
There is no easy cheap fix. If you want to get on the web, you will be forced to step up and purchase a better plan.

I'm in a networking class, but ironically i cannot seem to access my router settings.
I know how to access the router settings - type in 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0 ect. - ive done it many times in class and at my home, however, i recently changed network settings to try and troubleshoot my xbox and now i cant access the netgear setup page on the web browser...
My ';Default Gateway'; looks wierd - 76.114.46.1
DHCP Server - 68.87.76.10
ive never seen an address like that...anyways please tell me how to access the netgear settings...ive tried everything...and if it is the ';default Gateway'; please tell me how to fix it

I would have to do with Annorax said. The addresses you got look like they are from your ISP. By chance did you need to bridge the modem so it worked with a router? If you do have a router, your can factory reset it by holding the reset button for 10 seconds.
