Go to My Computer, right click on the icon, go to Properties, go to Computer Name tab, then hit Change, under Computer Name field, enter what you want your name to be. Hit OK until you get back out to the desktop; it will tell you that you need to reboot. Do so to effect the change; when it boots up, the PC name will now be what you changed it to.
Note: You need Administrator rights to change the computer name or join/remove a PC from a domain/workgroup.
