There is an A. It was faster than B but on different frequency. It is not compatible with B like g is. Stick with B if yours supports A or B. It depends on the cards in your pc. That is the speed it is going to do. The b cards in your computers can be used with a newer b or g router easier than getting one that does A nowadays. if you want to do a then you need to make sure you have a nic cards for your computers. all computers need to be an a or b. They can't be mixed. If you have a b %26amp; g router, then some can be b and some a g computer.

There might be a menu. You did not state the make and model of the router. That would help. You can set them for auto detect or force the a or b mode. do you have a cards in the computers? If you do not, then you need to buy them.
why would you want to?

the a b and g are analagous with TV stations. If your router is a. and your computer is a. then they can both talk to each other. If one is b. and the other a. then they can't.

the a. b. and g. are legacies from international standards and usage of frequencies with slightly different data transfer rates.

n. transcends a. b. and g.
