Changing Network Settings?

-I got this as a part of an answer so how do i change it-

I have a dell inspirion 1525 laptop with Vista Home Basic

How do i change the network settings so they are the same as my security settings?

';Make sure you change the network settings in the laptop to the same security settings after changing it on the router, otherwise you will indeed not get connected.';Changing Network Settings?
They are referring to your SSID (Service Set Identifier) and password/key i believe. When you set up your router, you assigned it an SSID or name and set a password for remote computers (yours and others) to access it. When you go to your available wireless networks window you should recognize your network by the Name that you gave it. When you try to connect to it, it will ask you for your password or key.

to access the available wireless networks, click on the icon that looks like a radio tower next to the clock on your taskbar.

If your SSID does not show in the list, then you may have set the router not to broadcast it. if this is the case, you will have to type in the SSID or go back into your router and allow it to broadcast the SSID.

It may be necessary for you to show us everything that you asked before.Changing Network Settings?
Basically you need to configure the wireless settings on the laptop to match the values on the wireless router. Where they say ';after changing it on the router';, this only applies to setting up the router the first time. If you have a router already setup, just provide the SSID and WEP key from the router when you try to connect with the wireless card in the laptop.
